The Research Practitioner Fellows Academy is where the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) Smart Suite grantees – a broad coalition of criminal justice system practitioners and researchers from around the country – meet to discuss how they are using evidence-based strategies to enhance public safety and promote fair and efficient justice systems. Michigan State University (MSU) developed the Academy to help researchers and practitioners work together more effectively. Edmund McGarrell of MSU and C. Edward Banks of BJA gave a presentation at the Spring 2016 Academy, which included an overview of the Smart Justice model of action research.
